Definitions • Statutory requirements- requirements identified and defined by the law. • Population shifts-a change in the numbers making up a population • Political power shifts-a change of which political party holds the majority of the votes. • Representative Democracy-a system of governance by chosen representatives,usuallyelected from among a large group
Facts about Congressional Districts • Redrawn every 10 years, after the Census. • Districts represent the same number of people. • Political party with the power draws the lines. • Tennessee has 9 districts and Hamblen County is in District 1.
