Learning outcomes: Thursday. To understand the important part QWC plays in you controlled assessment. To understand the use and helpfulness of connectives in your written work. After reviewing your Methodology you will include suitable improvements using connectives.
Controlled assessment. • Exam 1 = 37.5% of GCSE grade. • Exam 2 – 37.5% of GCSE grade. • Controlled assessment = 25% of GCSE grade.
Levels. There are 3 levels – EVERYONE here is to aim for Level 3. • Level 1 = 1 – 4 marks • Level 2 = 5 – 8 marks • Level 3 = 9 – 12 marks
To reach Level 1, I have: Written a brief description to gowith my data presented e.g. graphswith a description of the trendbelow. Included some reasons to explainwhat my results show. Used a limited range ofgeographical terms. (check your glossary) Written my sentences using capitalletters and full stops, as well asother punctuation and grammar. Spell checked and proof read mywork to make sure it makes sense. (1 – 4 marks)
Level 2 is where I reach when I have completed all of Level 1 and Ihave; Written a description for all of my resultsand have manipulated the data to showthe trends e.g. including percentages,fractions or ratios. Written a conclusion which starts with a‘summary of key findings’, which answersthe question or hypothesis at the start ofthe investigation Used geography terms appropriatelyfrom the start of my investigation in myfinal write up. I have written in full sentences and paragraphs which makesense. (5 – 8 marks)
Level 3 is where I reach when I have completed all of Level 2 and I have: Written a detailed description for all of myresults, which includes detailed data analysis. Identified links between data sets. Written a valid conclusion based on my‘summary of key results’, which answers thehypothesis at the start of the investigation. Used a wide range of geography termsappropriately. Written in sentences and paragraphs whichare clear and logical. My writing is fluent andmakes sense. (9 – 12 marks)
