The Executive Branch • Executive Branch – branch of govt responsible for executing, or carrying out the law • Office of the President • Given very few specific powers in the Constitution • Term of service is for four years • Can only serve two terms • Cannot make laws; can only carry out & enforce those made by Congress • Must be at least 35 yrs old • Must be a natural-born citizen & live in the U.S. for at least 14 years • Yearly salary is set by Congress

The Many Roles of the President • Presidential role in Judicial Powers • President gets to choose Supreme Court justices & other federal judges • Senate has to confirm his appointments • Is able to put off or reduce the punishment of someone accused of a federal crime • Can grant pardons to any convicted felon
