Research tells us, “When parents and school staff work together to support learning, students:earn higher grades and test scores,enroll in higher level programs, are promoted and earn credits,adapt well to school and attend regularly,have better social skills and behavior, graduate and go on to higher education.” Karen Mapp, Family Involvement Expert

  4. Planner and Yellow Folder • Ask questions about concepts learned that day. • Review homework for that night. • Look at how your child’s day went. • Check yellow communication folder for any important information.

  5. Grade Level Expectations/ & Performance Expectations Classroom instruction is based on WA State Essential Academic Learning Requirements. EALR’s can be found on our classroom website.

  6. How can you help? • Current WSP form is mandatory • Volunteer anytime after 1:00 pm • PTN room representative • Chaperone field trips • Pattisons Roller Rink, Spokane House & Long Lake Dams • Parties • Christmas and Valentine’s • Monthly birthday celebrations • Provide a healthy snack daily for your child • Provide a quiet place for homework, a good night sleep and a healthy breakfast

  7. Before you leave tonight: • Sign in, please include email addresses • Pick up ABC’s of 4th Grade and other important handouts • Sign up to volunteer • Consider classroom wishlist • Check out our hallway bulletin board • Dont forget I’d like to meet you!
