I choose to analyze Gothic Beauty, because it’s a magazine with a difference, choosing to cover interesting current events, and all in all manages to be broad enough to not overly restrict its audience, and once opened you’ll find that its not quite as gothic as it sounds. Not many people have heard of it in the Uk as it is an American magazine. Established in the fall of 2000, Gothic Beauty features fashion, music interviews & reviews, entertainment & art, profiles, lifestyle articles and events.  Independently published, Gothic Beauty has grown into America's most popular Gothic magazine.

  2. As you could see form the first slide the layout of Gothic Beauty doesn’t vary much, however the cover concepts do immensely. This doesn’t make the magazine dull however because of the extravagant nature of the photographs and model which would otherwise have the focus taken away by the change in layout.

  3. The models head overlapping the title allows attention to be drawn away from it and towards the cover photo. Fixed colour scheme, very important to maintain the magazines ‘look’. Here its white grey and black but it often changes to other colours still using white text. Using white text the same colour as the title. Text is in a simple font but is consistent. Positioning of the model acts as a divider to guide the readers eye to the various stories.

  4. Bar showing what a reader could find inside. However this magazine is mainly a fashion one, so many stories can be found to do with that. Great variation in stories included, enough to interest a wide audience.
