  5. MATERIALS ACCEPTANCE • After Contract • Develop the Project Bill of Material • Require the Contractor supplier list? (example) • Make sure the Contractor also provides a list of materials to be used by all of the subcontractors, too. • Are the suppliers correct • Documenting materials • Use C&MS Section 700 for documentation guidance • Temporary materials are to be documented in this manner as well.

MATERIALS ACCEPTANCE • Did they get the Contractor list of materials to you at the preconstruction meeting per C&MS 108.02 • Make sure the Contractor also provides a list of materials to be used by all of the subcontractors, too. • Documentation problems (No project Bill of Material) • Not having a system to track quantity of materials accepted and needed • Notifying the CPE to require TE-24 and QPL documentation

MATERIALS ACCEPTANCE • Typical Materials Problems • Asphalt • No verification testing • No comparison of test results (producer to owner to JMF) • Delivery tickets with incorrect or no JMF • Concrete • Use of correct aggregate in concrete pavement • Delivery tickets with incorrect or no JMF • No tracking of approved materials to construction item • Payment without materials approval

  9. MATERIALS ACCEPTANCE • If final Records do not have materials documentation FHWA funding cannot be used for payment
