  2. Overview of ACE ACE Mission Engage, excite and enlighten high school students to pursue careers in the integrated construction industry through mentoring Support their continued advancement in the industry through scholarships and grants .

  3. Overview of ACE Industry Facts and Trends Construction – 2nd largest Industry in U.S. Workforce development is a top issue for the future. By year 2015, the construction industry is projected to have 1 million job openings. Today, for every 5 people leaving the industry, only 1 new person enters the workforce.

  4. Overview of ACE Statistical Profile 92% of ACE graduates enroll in future education/college. ACE has awarded more than $ 8.2 million in scholarships to students. ACE mentoring firms have contributed more than $2.8 million worth of pro bono time.

  5. Overview of ACE Rudiments of Program Teams of professionals, usually 7-10 will meet with teams of students Teams meet after school for 2 hours in schools or mentor offices. Typically 15 sessions, usually every other week, beginning in Nov and ending in May. Each team selects a design project and works through entire design process. Projects often simulate real-life situations. At conclusion of program, teams present their projects in a public forum.

  6. Signing Up Steps to Becoming an ACE Student • Students must... • √ Complete an online application at www.acementor.org. • √ Have a parent or guardian sign the • consent form • √ Bring consent form to first meeting.

Working with Your Team Expectations • Attend all meetings. • Commit to the day and time of the team meetings. • Don’t be a “no show!” • If you are going to miss meeting, contact team leader. • Be on time. • Wear appropriate attire at all times. • Leave cell phones turned off. • Participate during meetings • Give your mentors respect and commitment.

  8. Working with Your Team Special Activities Each team will be giving a presentation at the Final Presentation Programs. Field trips to construction sites and other places will be arranged.

  9. Scholarships Scholarships Graduating seniors who intend to pursue training related to the construction industry are invited to apply for ACE Mentor Program National and Local scholarships. Student attendance and participation are two important factors in selecting scholarship winners. Students may use scholarships in both 4- and 2-year institutions, or in some cases for the purchase of tools when entering a trade apprenticeship program.

  10. Scholarships Scholarships 50 National Scholarships And growing Education Collaborative Program Currently over 30 institutions have set aside money for ACE students to apply directly to the institution. This list includes trade schools. Visit website for list.
