UMOJA-UNITY: To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race. • KUJICHAGULIA-SELF DETERMINATION: To define ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves instead of being defined, named, created for and spoken for by others. • UJIMA-COLLECTIVE WORK AND RESPONSIBITY: To build and maintain our communities together and to make our sisters and brothers problems our problems and solve them together. • UJAMAA-COOPERATIVE ECONOMICS: To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses and to profit from them together. • NIA-PURPOSE: To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness. • KUUMBA- CREATIVITY: To do always as much as we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it. • IMANI-FAITH: To believe with all our hearts in our people, our parents, our teachers, leaders, and the righteousness and victory of our struggles.
SISTERS OF TOMORROW PLEDGE • As African Sisters, we, will always be • Proud of our heritage and love our Africanity • We will creatively maintain our culture with Dignity and pride. • We will do our best work whenever we work and complete those things we begin. • We shall never disown our people • For it is from them, and the Creator that we gather strength. • We have the responsibility to be intelligent African leaders of the future because we are the • Sisters of Tomorrow.
