II. The Arabian People • Arabian Peninsula in Arabic means Island of the Arabs • Fertile regions of Arabia • Most people live in the fertile regions • Many people herd goats & sheep • Irrigation helped improve harvests • Some people moved north to Petra when an aqueduct brought in fresh water
