Life on the Front Lines • Trenches- system of fortifications, • Constant danger • Rotation • Week 1 front lines • Week 2 support trench • Week 3 reserve trench • Timing • Attacks at dawn or before dawn • Clear nights = bombing • Daytime was relatively safe • Casualties: a third on the Western Front may have been killed or wounded in a trench.
