R.L. Stine was born in Ohio in 1943. He lived on a pig farm when he was a boy. When he was 9 he found a typewriter in his attic and that changed his life. He began writing stories and joke magazines. After graduating from college in 1965 he moved to New York City to become a writer.

After graduating from college in 1965 he moved to New York City to become a writer. He wrote dozens of joke books. In 1986 he turned SCARY and began writing scary stories!!!
In 1989 R.L. Stine wrote the first Fear Street novel. He has written over 100 Fear Street novels and they are the best selling young adult books in history.
In 1992 R. L. Stine began his first Goosebumps book. This scary book series became a hit around the world. I have read 18 Goosebumps Horror Land books. The book below is called The Night of the Living Dummy.
Today R.L. Stine is busier than ever. He is writing his newest 16 book series called Rotten School.

Writing Tips from R.L. Stine? Do you ever get writer’s block and don’t know what to write about? I never get writer's block. Mainly because I do so much work before I start to write. I do complete chapter-by-chapter outlines of every book. And I make a list of all the characters-- what they look like and their personalities. And I always figure out the ending BEFORE I start the book. That's a big head-start and keeps me from having writers block.
