Project Summary • Overall goal of project: • Transform their fixed material position assembly process for their gas application reciprocating compressors into a flowing cell layout • Motivations: • Prepare for a projected increase in demand for their newly released MOS compressor • Create a safer environment for the operators (no overhead cranes) • Increase their on-time delivery rating • Specific Task: • Create the material handling system that will allow the assembly to travel through this cell and will support the lean manufacturing initiatives this project is pursuing Note: A consultant has created a conceptual design of the process flow through this cell.

  9. Requests • Data on Cylinder weights for all families • Data Cylinder dimensions for all families • Is there an expectation for future line expansion?

  10. Project Requests Requests: • Review customer needs & provide feedback • Review functional decomposition & provide feedback • Specifications and constraints definition to meet customer needs • Ideas: time to move, size envelope for system within layout, no overhead crane, no monuments
