3. 2H2006-1H2007 Accomplishments • Advised NIEM Business Architecture Committee (NBAC) on issues of interest to industry and supported NBAC efforts • Advised NIEM Technical Architecture Committee (NTAC) on issues of interest to industry and supported NTAC efforts • Advised Global XML Structure Task Force (XSTF) on issues of interest to industry and supported XSTF efforts • Advised the GJXDM Training and Technical Assistance Committee (GTTAC) on issues of interest to industry and supported GTTAC efforts

4. 2H2006-1H2007 Accomplishments (cont.) • Provided guidance and review development and enhancement of IEPD Clearinghouse • As Steering Committee for National Information Sharing Standards Help Desk, provided guidance to and review of help desk activities • Produced endorsement of NIEM for action by IJIS Board of Directors

5. 2H2007 Plans • Continue representing industry on information sharing standards committees • Review and make recommendations on documents and artifacts from NIEM, JRA, and other information sharing standards efforts • Keep IJIS members and affiliates informed of information sharing standards developments • Work with other IJIS committees on interrelated efforts such as white papers

IJIS Member/Affiliate Participation • Join XML Advisory Committee • Participate in Document/Artifact Reviews • Inform Committee members of views and recommendations on issues related to information sharing standards • Submit NIEM problems and recommended changes or additions to the National Information Sharing Standards Help Desk • Work with your customers to submit IEPDs to the IEPD Clearinghouse

Proposed NIEM Endorsement • Whereas, the members and the companies affiliated with the IJIS Institute wish to support the adoption and use of national standards for facilitating information sharing to improve the ability of local, state, tribal and Federal agencies to exchange information, and • Whereas, the U.S. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security have agreed to adopt a National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) expanding upon the widely accepted Global Justice XML Data Model (GJXDM) to support such sharing, and • Whereas, the President has ordered the development of standards that will help enable Federal agencies to exchange information with local, state and tribal agencies based on their adoption of NIEM, then

Proposed NIEM Endorsement (cont.) • BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED • That the IJIS Institute, on behalf of its members and affiliated companies, endorses the use of the National Information Exchange Model as the standard, by choice, for inter-jurisdictional and inter-disciplinary information sharing throughout the nation; and • That the IJIS Institute will promote the adoption and use of NIEM by its members and affiliated companies in their products and services; and • That the IJIS Institute, through the efforts of its members and affiliated companies, will provide training and technical assistance to local, state, tribal, and Federal agencies seeking to adopt NIEM.
