BELRAO GROUP SUMMER WORK AND TRAVEL PROGRAM (2) DS-2019 CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY • US Department of State document • includes: the Sponsor, the Program type and the Employer • Based on DS-2019 you can apply for J-1 visa with or without a work contract • DS-2019 dates show the period in which you can work in US • You can NOT start working before DS-2019 start date • You can NOT continue to work after DS-2019 expire date • You CAN visit US for an addition 30 days

BELRAO GROUP SUMMER WORK AND TRAVEL PROGRAM (3) US SPONSOR- THE ROLE • approved by the US DS to conduct cultural exchange programs • finds an employer for each applicant • OR • checks the job offer filed by the applicant or local cooperator • issue DS-2019 = they assume responsibility for each applicant • organizes MANDATORY orientations upon arrival of the student in US • offer emergency support on US territory • reports to US Department of State for each applicant • can cancel the student’s visa if the student is NOT respecting the program rules (leaves the employment without notice, leaves the housing and does not inform the Sponsor) • THE US SPONSOR NEEDS TO BE UPDATED WITH ANY CHANGES!!

BELRAO GROUP SUMMER WORK AND TRAVEL PROGRAM (4) ROMANIAN STUDENTS- ELIGIBILITY • full time student aged between 18-29 • not in the last year of study • good command of English language • willing to work and travel in US for up to 4 months + 1 • willing to come back home after the summer time • independent and flexible The student has to be enrolled in an authorized or accredited University (CNEAA) If a master student, the master full time course should be for more than 1,5 years If not a Romanian citizen, the student can NOT apply though the program at at the US Bucharest Embassy if they are studying in Romania

BELRAO GROUP SUMMER WORK AND TRAVEL PROGRAM (5) US BUCHAREST EMBASSY RESTRICTIONS • Restrictions regarding summer time vacation • In addition to the Department of State requirements, the US Embassy in Bucharest has set the start and the end date for the SWT programs for Romanian students: 15th June and 1st October • Students who arrive after 1st October may NOT be eligible for a J-1 visa in the future • Restrictions regarding students eligibility • First year students- need to have an average of 9 for their first exams • Intermediate year students- if they have failed exams and have passed their exams until May, need to have a written proof • Last year students- can participate in the program if they can prove they have strong ties to Romania • Students citizen of other countries – can NOT apply to Bucharest for visa if they are full time students in Romania • Restrictions regarding the interviews at the Embassy • They are conducted based on appointments • They are conducted only on Fridays • They are conducted only until the end of July or until the cap is touched
