It contains ALL levels of 2011-2012 Black-Eyed Susan books , K-12. It is not intended to be used “as is” but to be tailored to the needs and individuality of your own school or library. Where there is a picture of a certain library branch or display – please delete and insert your own. Use the parts/slides that fit your needs, delete and/or modify the rest. 4. WHAT? • A list of nominated books is presented for you, the students, to select your favorite. So this is a children’s choice award. No adult votes.

6. WHO? • All children, K-12, in the state of Maryland are eligible to read and vote on their favorite book. You need to read at least (three, or whatever your school uses!) books from the list before you can vote.

8. WHEN? • Starting now and lasting until the vote is recorded, tallied, and mailed in April 2012. • (Remember that these books have a shorter due date, 5 school days, with no renewal if someone is waiting- this was my policy, insert whatever special rules apply in your media center)

14. A Pig Parade is a Terrible Idea by Michael Ian Black • Explains precisely why, although it may sound like a good idea, gathering hundreds of pigs to march in a parade through one's hometown is inadvisable. 

15. Persephone by Sally Pomme Clayton • Based on the Greek myth of the beautiful young goddess who is snatched by Hades and taken to the underworld, this beautifully illustrated classic brings to life one of the world's most ancient legends--the origins of the seasons.
