  1. Bienvenue en Afrique This short project is based on the biennial football festival currently taking place in Angola: La Coupe d’Afrique des Nations. Through this project you will find out more about Africa and in particular its French-speaking countries Bon courage et bon voyage

  2. This presentation will give you all the details, links and documents necessary to help you carry out the project. Read the instructions carefully and lets see what you can come up with.

  3. Task 1 In your my documents folder create a folder entitled “Coupe d’Afrique des Nations” Open a new powerpoint document and create an opening slide with an image of Africa and the same title as your folder.

  4. Task 2 • Go to “shared documents” from my computer, open the Modern Languages folder and find the file called “Carte d’Afrique” • Insert this map into a second page of your powerpoint • Add a title on the slide: “Les Equipes” • Use this linkto find the names in French of the teams taking part • Use this link to see a map of africa in French and use it to label the map in your presentation • Now use this link to help you find out which of these countries speak French and highlight them in your presentation

  5. Task 3 Click the image below to take you to the official Championship website Now click on the mascot to take you to an online question sheet. Type your answers in the spaces provided

  6. Task 4 Choose one of the French speaking countries and find out the following information about it. You must add this information to a 3rd slide in your powerpoint with the title of your chosen country (in French) official language(s) capital city main religion(s) geographical location other languages spoken population name of the Head of State (President / King / Queen etc) famous citizens (not just footballers) currency date of independence main commercial city (if any) economy (main industries) flag

  7. Task 5 Planning an adventure to... Use your internet searching skills to plan a holiday to the country you have researched. You will need to plan the following details and present them in your power point. You must give details of real places / activities / hotels including links to websites / pictures. You have a budget of £5000 Dates of your adventure Return travel to your chosen country (incl prices) expedia / Opodo who you are going with Places you will visit, including sites of tourist interest etc the typical local food you might eat your accommodation how you intend to travel around give approximate costs for each section and an overall total

  8. Task 6 • You have planned your trip and are getting everything ready before you go. However to be fully prepared you need to find out a bit more about one of the main local languages. • Find out and try to learn the following phrases in • your chosen language: • Hello • How are you • What is your name • My name is • Goodbye • Be ready to teach your words to the class!!!!!

  9. Task 6 Imagine you have recently returned from your trip of a lifetime. Your kind French teacher has asked you to write an account of your travels for the department GLOW page...in French of course.
