  3. Building the Body of Christ Together • One of the elements of obedience to make it a whole is having a New Mind Set. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

Building the Body of Christ Together • The mind is the gateway to our soul and our spirit and whatever can control or dominate the mind can guide our destiny. • “… For as man thinks in his heart so is he (Prov. 23:7).” • “Thinketh” - Hebrew Word “sharar” - to act as a gate keeper.   5. Building the Body of Christ Together The gate was a place of controlled access to a walled city. There are only two gates for entrance into the mind: 1. EYE gate 2. EAR gate Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  6. Building the Body of Christ Together • We all need a new mind set in order to change and become what God has designed us to be. • Human Nature - understands natural things. • Divine Nature - understands both sides. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  8. Building the Body of Christ Together • To move the people to the next level, Nehemiah showed up with a: • Vision • Plan • Program • Nehemiah, Chapter 4 Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  9. Building the Body of Christ Together • Vision- extend the kingdom by winning the lost. • Plan – to re-fire the people through training in the word and rebuilding the walls of their life. • Program – Care Group Network to carry out the plan. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  12. Building the Body of Christ Together • As we have borne the image of the earthly, we shall bear the image of the heavenly, (1Cor.15:48). • This comes only as we live out the word of God in our life. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  13. Building the Body of Christ Together • Life is a reflection of what we sow; we will also reap. • Life is an echo; it is a simply a reflection of all of our actions. • Life will echo back everything that we give it. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

Satan is considered to be a real being or force, not merely symbolic. 3.   19. Building the Body of Christ Together Hebrews 13: 7-8 (NIV) Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

Building the Body of Christ Together Ephesians 4: 11-16 (NIV) • So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Building the Body of Christ Together Ephesians 4: 11-16 (NIV) continued: • Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

Building the Body of Christ Together • A soldier is taught about weapons and basic battlefield strategies in the classroom. • He is later assigned to the field and trained to do what he learned in the text books. • He is not fully ready until he is trained to use his weapon.   23. Building the Body of Christ Together • In the church we are first trained by the Bible. • We go to the field to do what we have been taught. • Although we walk in the flesh we do not war according to the flesh. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

Building the Body of Christ Together • For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of strongholds (II Cor. 10:4). • Stronghold – a place that serves as the center of a group, as of militants or of persons holding a controversial viewpoint. • How many Christians are equipped with divine and powerful weapons that are tearing down evil strongholds? • Every Christian should have notches on their belt from evil strongholds.   25. Building the Body of Christ Together • Christ gave a fivefold ministry to the church for the purpose of preparing his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  26. Building the Body of Christ Together • The Greek word used here is (Kat-atis-mon) - for perfecting or equipping. • The verb (Kat-art-izo) - mending or preparing nets (Matt. 4:21 ). • (Gal.6:1) - to restore for proper use of the saints unto the work of the ministry. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  27. Building the Body of Christ Together 2Timothy 2:2 • Goal - build up or edify the body of Christ so that we can serve others. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  28. Building the Body of Christ Together Eph.4:16 ESV “… and the whole body depends on him. All the parts of the body are joined and held together, with each part doing its own work. This causes the whole body to grow and to be stronger in love.” • This scripture illustrates how all the saints (and not just a few leaders) should be involved in the ministry. • Vs. 7 clarifies that all of us were given gifts to serve others. • Grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ.   29. Building the Body of Christ Together There are strongholds all around us: school, family, churches, media, movies, and computers. They have arguments and pretentions against God. We have God’s divine power to refute these arguments. “…and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (II Cor. 10:5). Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  30. Building the Body of Christ Together • Our struggle is not against flesh and blood… • but against rulers, authorities, the power of darkness, and the spiritual forces of the heavenly realms. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  31. Building the Body of Christ Together We must put on the full armor of God to be able to stand against these evil forces. Our greatest weapon to break down strongholds and demolish arguments and everything that sets itself up against the knowledge of God is the power of prayer. Most people do not know how to pray effectively and they are being defeated by the world. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  32. Building the Body of Christ Together Armor • The belt of truth. • The breastplate of righteousness. • Feet shod with readiness that comes from the gospel. • Praying in the spirit. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  33. Building the Body of Christ Together Armor E. The shield of faith – extinguishes the flaming arrow of the evil one. F. The helmet of salvation. G. Defensive Weapon – Sword of the Spirit (Word of God). Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  34. Building the Body of Christ Together Our secret weapon before we enter into any war is praying in the spirit for every occasion. Paul had to go against the false teachers of his day. Paul tells us that the weapons we use are not weapons of this world. Our weapons have divine power to demolish anything that the devil throws at us. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  35. Building the Body of Christ Together There are three things that should keep us conscious of who we are. • Christ’s Body Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, the same is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body and we all belong to each other. In his grace he has given us different gifts to do things well. (Romans 12th chapter) Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

Christ’s Family • As his family we are reminded that we are called to love one another, nurture one another, and to help each other grow. • Family is the place where we are cultivated, developed and equipped to manage our life so that we will be able to help others (Eph.4:16).   37. Building the Body of Christ Together • Christ’s Temple • As God temple we are called to worship him as his holy temple. • We are to bring God praise, honor and glory. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.

  38. Building the Body of Christ Together • All of us together are the temple of God and the spirit of God lives in us. • God’s house has everything that we need but we have to be obedient to obtain it. Dr. Ralph Godfrey Sr.
