Status of the NSS in Uganda • Uganda’s NSS as a whole is still characterized by weak capacity and low level of institutional coordination • Now the PNSD – aims at strengthening, widening scope and increasing opportunities for development of the NSS

PLANNING COMMITTEE’S ROLE • Regularly review the Corporate Plan (CP) • Participate and advise on the budgeting process for all programs • Monitor progress of work programmes and budget performance on a quarterly basis. • Prioritize work programmes in line with available budgets
PLAN FOR NATIONAL STATISTICAL DEVELOPMENT (PNSD) – WHAT IT WILL DO • provide a vision for the NSS (5-10 years) with set milestones • present a comprehensive and unified framework for continual assessment of evolving user needs • present priorities for statistics and build the capacity needed to meet these priorities in a more coordinated, synergistic and efficient manner.
