Gain understanding of the process, not necessarily to perform it. In order of importance • How to do something • Gives directions to readers so they can perform the process. • Can be written in second person or third person. • Imperative mood: a command with an understanding subject “you” • Chronological
Thesis Statements The thesis sentence in the introduction of a process essay must state the process to be explained and express a point of view (opinion, attitude, or judgment) about that process.
