11. INPUT SITUATION 5. FERTILIZER - See GES above 6.SEED Kaduna State ADP provided a good /quality seeds at a subsidize rate of about 40% to the farmers in order to boost their production. About 7,425 farmers benefited from the 68,938 kg of assorted seed distributed. Maize = 22.980 MT Rice = 14.436 MT Cowpew = 5.745 MT Sorghum = 17.235 MT Soyabeans = 8.542 MT 7. AGROCHEMICALS Herbicides = 24,560 Litres Insecticides = 12,900 Litres Fungicides = 10,750 kgs Beneficiaries = 5,679 farmers 8. MNRDP The 1st phase has been completed ad the 2nd phase is expected to commence in 2013 as it has been approved by Federal Government of Nigeria. The adoption rate of NERICA-8 (FARO 59) from field observations revelation, is very high as it ranges between 70% and 80% and farmers reasons for adopting it includes earliness (80 – 85 days duration), high yield (about 5 tons/ha), high milling rate (about 60%, its grain appeal (medium length and whiteness) and nice palatability. 9. FADAMA III, COMPONENT IV The component continued to operate at a snail speed due to lack of clear understanding of its mode of operation nation wide.
