Agenda Instructions for breakout session • Dave will demonstrate (10 minutes) • 3D printing • Stepper motor control • Mike will demonstrate (10 minutes) • Connectors • Hardware guide • Sample moving parts rig • Hands-on breakout session (40 minutes) • Summary of other methods (20 minutes) • Q&A session
3D Printing Demo Dave will show you: • Sketchup 3D design • STL export • Slicing Gcode • 3D Printing
Stepper Motor Control Dave will show you: • Programming Arduino RAMPS controller • Connecting steppers or servos • Fast serial control with GCODE/terminal
Connectors Mike will show you: • How to tap holes in plastic • Keep the part Flush/Straight • Turn once, turn back half • Continue until cleared • Insert matching screw
Connectors Mike will show you: • How to make a 3D printed slip fitting • Optimize 3D printing process for tight fit • Press part in • Refine as needed
Connectors Mike will show you: • A sample robotic assembly • The arm contains makerslide, a strong nearly final prototype level quality aluminum • Bearing slides on the aluminum • A stepper with MXL pulley and timing belt • Tapped holes inside the aluminum to hold the balancing pulley
