Fight Club pg. 65-92 • Chapter IX • Lye- chemical burn that Tyler gives to the narrator • The pain is excruciating and the narrator tries to mentally escape • Tyler yells to focus on the pain • “Soap and human sacrifice go hand in hand.” • “Someday you will die and until you know that, you're useless to me.” • Tyler would only give the narrator the vinegar if he gave up and accepted his fate

Fight Club pg. 65-92 • After the lye ordeal Tyler tells the narrator he is one step closer to hitting the bottom • This is how the first soap was made • He talks about sacrifice of animals in product testing and monkeys shot into space • “Without their death, their pain, without their sacrifice, we would have nothing” • Does this seem like Tyler favors capitalism?

  4. Fight Club pg. 65-92 • Chapter X • Opens with Tyler doing nasty things to the tomato bisque • Why does Tyler do this to the wealthy upper crust he serves? • The note about Tyler urinating in one of the patrons perfume bottles • Why is this interesting? Is this the culture of fear?
