  2. Organization of Common Core Standards:Literacy in Science READING College and Career Readiness (CCR) Anchor Standards for Reading. Specific standards for Reading that translate the CCR statements into specific end of year performance expectations. WRITING College and Career Readiness (CCR) Anchor Standards for Writing. Grade specific standards for Writing that translate the CCR statements into specific end of year performance expectations.

  3. Organization of Common Core Standards:Literacy in Science The CCR in Reading and Writing are identical across all grades. They indicate where students should be by the time they graduate 12th grade.

  4. Reading Standards Strand in Science The Reading Standardsare divided into 3 strands: #s 1-3 - Key Ideas and Details #s 4-6 - Craft and Structure #s 7-9 - Integration of Knowledge and Ideas # 10 - Range of Reading and Level of Text Complexity

  5. The Writing Standards Strand The Writing Standards • #s 1-3 Text Types and Purposes • #s 4-6 Production and Distribution of Writing • #s 7-9 Research to Build and Present Knowledge • # 10 Range of Writing

  6. Activity • Review the 238 word Reading Standards for Science • By yourself note 5 standards that you already do. • Speak with a partner and review each others ideas. • Report Out
