Career Pathways Madison County High School CTAE Department
Purpose of this Presentation • To familiarize students with the current Career Pathways offered at Madison County High School • To explain the benefits of completing a pathway in Career, Technical, and Agriculture Education (CTAE) classes • To explain the advantages of earning a Work Ready certificate • To explain the process of articulation
Key Points • To complete a career pathway, a student must take a series of related CTAE courses and pass an end-of-pathway assessment • Several pathways are currently available at MCHS • All seniors will have the opportunity to become Georgia Work Ready Certified, which may help them to secure employment in the future • Articulation involves taking classes in high school that may also be used for college credit at Athens Tech
Career Pathways • Students who complete one of the pathways offered at Madison County High School will be eligible to take an end-of-pathway assessment, which may qualify them to earn a industry-recognized credential. • These credentials are certificates/licenses that will help the student when completing employment/collegiate applications.
Career Pathways • Your selection of a pathway should be based on your own career interests and the knowledge you gain as you investigate possible occupations. • Keep in mind that most high-demand, high-skilled, high-wage occupations in all pathways still do require education beyond high school. • The following slides show the pathways offered at Madison County High School. If you take all of the courses listed for a particular pathway, you are eligible to take the end-of-pathway assessment.

Georgia Work Ready Certification • Benefits of Work Ready Certification: • The number of employers who recognize or require a Work Ready Certificate is growing • It proves that you have the real world skills that are sought after by employers • It can separate you from other applicants who have not earned this credential
Articulation • Articulated classes allow students to earn high school and college credit for the same course • Currently, some courses in the following subject areas are articulated with Athens Technical College: • Business/Computer Science • Early Childhood Education • Drafting
Articulation • In order for articulation to occur, the student must pass the course(s) and an articulation exam • Students who qualify to take an articulation exam will need to sign up to do so • Since Athens Tech is changing over to the semester system, some of the articulation agreements may change this year • More specific information about articulation with Athens Tech will be presented in a future presentation
Final Thoughts • Advisors, if you have speakers connected to your smart board, turn them on at this time and then advance to the next slide.
