Angles, Parallel Lines and Transversals Glencoe Geometry Chapter 3.1 Parallel Lines and Transversals Massachusetts Geometry Standard (8.G.4): Demonstrate an understanding of the relationships of angles formed by intersecting lines, including parallel lines cut by a transversal.
Purpose of Lesson This lesson will reinforce the language of lines, angles and angle relationships. Students will have worked together to complete several worksheets that may be used as references throughout the activity. Students will have individually written vocabulary card and may use these as references throughout the activity.
Lesson Plan • Students will review vocabulary orally • Students will review worksheets and quiz each other in pairs • Class will be shown the applet and given the instruction page for using the applet http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/angles/index.html • Students will be given the instructions for using this applet http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/angles/how.html • Teacher will lead class in activity of four examples with one transversal • Students will work in pairs to complete four additional examples
