  2. Food • THE MANATEE WAS A VERY POPULAR DISH. • THEY ALSO ATE BERRIES, AND SHARKS. • THEY HUNTED BEAR, DEER AND MANY OTHER ANIMALS IN THE EVERGLADES.

  3. GEOGRAPHY • THEY LIVED BY THE SOUTHEAST COAST OF FLORIDA. • A LOT OF VILLAGES BY THE MOUTH OF THE MIAMI RIVER. • TODAY, THIS PART OF FLORIDA IS NOW THE FORT LAUDERDALE/MIAMI AREA.

  4. CLOTHING • Wore very little clothing • Men wore breechcloths • Women wore skirts made of spanish moss

  5. Shelter • The Teqeusta lived in huts • They looked like cones • They were made from hay and sticks

  6. HISTORY The Europeans came and the Tequesta did not let them come in their territory, so they gave them items such as knives and rum, but still they did not like them, so the Europeans killed them.

  7. How They Died The Tequesta died from diseases, battles, and slavery, but they had a few people living.

  8. Culture • The Tequesta dried and pounded the roots of the coontie plant into a type of flour that was then made into bread.
