Thebody as ourbasicidentity • The baby feels, thereforehe/sheexists • culture usually limits individuals spontaneous expressions, • We loose contact with our own body, feelings and real needs • To have a strong and healthy identity, we must have a deep contact with our body • Body-work as a way for empowerment and changing of self concepts

Method • 10 adolescents from a public school in Brazil doing their last High School term • 10 group meetings, 2 hourseach • All meetings startedwiththebody • Research: audiorecordingand notes weretaken • Qualitative data analysis: Constructive -interpretativemethodfrom Fernando González Rey

Resultsanddiscussion Firstmeaning zone: “Withoutdirection” • “I want to knowmyselfso I canchoosesomething I like” • “I hatemaths! I thoughtaboutdoingpsychology, nursing, fisiotherapy, social serviceandnutrition.” • I thought about doing veterinary or physical education, but gave up. I thought of turism, but I don’t know. My father don’t want me to do physical education. At this point, doing grounding position was vary hard
Resultsanddiscussion • Second meaning zone: "Facing Reality“ • "Making grounding hurts“ The playful when doing body work with adolescents • "I sought more civil engineering, architecture and psychology. I liked psychology. I tried also the military. The exam is difficult, but I can get there “ • "The last workshop made me think of all the problems we have in professions.“ • “I felt like an energy. I felt that it started at my feet going all the way up here (at the head)."
Resultsanddiscussion • Third meaning zone: "I can make it“ • "Helped me to say ‘ME' and to appreciate myself more“ • "I cried with people that I had just met. The vocational guidance made me feel very comfortable, the people allowed me that. " • "With my decision ... I'll be saying no to my father and yes to me "
The more someone expresses oneself from a true place, the more he/she approaches to this truth (Pierrakos, 1990).
