Sophomore Requirements • English (1.0) • American Studies (.5) • Math (1.0) • Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 (Regular or Accelerated) • Science (1.0) • Physical Science, Chemistry • PE 2 • 4.0 Electives **Electives could be study hall, world language, etc.**
Sophomore Requirements • Graduation Reminders: • Pass Reading, Writing and Math State Tests • .5 Career Credit • 24 total credits for Standard Diploma
Chancellors Diploma • Requirements above Standard Diploma: • 26 total credits (not 24) • 2 years of World Language • Through Algebra 2 for Math • 16 academic credits • C or higher in all academic classes • Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher
Honors Diploma • Requirements above Standard Diploma: • At least 8 eligible courses (all AP courses, most Honors/Advanced/Accelerated, etc.) • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher • 3 years of the same World Language • 26 total credits (not 24) • Enrolled in minimum of 6 classes each year
Post High School Options • Community College • 4-Year university • Trade School • Military • Employment
Community College • 2+ years • Modified or Standard Diploma, Undocumented students – all ok! • Placement Tests for Reading, Writing, Math • Remedial Courses • Some have Dorms • COCC – partners w/ OSU Cascades (Bend) so you live on a University Campus! • Sports can be available
Community College • No out-of-state tuition • Transfer degree vs. Associates Degree • Some 3 or 6-month programs offered • Examples: HVAC Program, Corrections Technicians, 911 Dispatcher, Bookkeeper, Pharmacy Technician, Food Service • Common Programs: • Auto Tech, Mechanics, Nursing, Dental Assisting, Business/Accounting
4-Year University • Options • Bachelor of Science or Art (4 years +) • Can transfer from Community College • OUS Schools: • OSU, PSU, UO, EOU, WOU, OIT, SOU • Public Vs. Private: • Pacific University, Lewis & Clark College, Linfield College, University of Portland, Reed College, University of Puget Sound • College Visits and Visitations

Trade School • Shorter Programs • Specific job training and career skills • Apprenticeship • Common Programs: • Massage, Cosmetology • Bricklaying, Pipe Fitting, Carpentry, Painter, Plumber, Sheet Metal Worker • Electrician, Heavy Equipment Operator
Military • 5 Branches: • Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy • Must have Standard Diploma • Modified Diploma and GED are not accepted • ASVAB test • This year offered at GHS on January 31st (No School day) • Sign up in counseling center (free!)
Employment • Work Skills needed: • Timeliness, regular attendance • Able to learn new tasks and perform well • Work well with other people and bosses • Be eager to learn • Willing to accept responsibility • Use of your transcript and/or references
