  7. On-road Trucks • CARB rule • Includes ag trucks! • Low-use exemption = 1000 mi. and 100 hrs. • Limited-use exemption = 7,500 mi. (requires DPF)

  8. On-road Trucks • Phase 1 • Install DPFs on all existing trucks by Dec. 31, 2012 beginning in 2010 • Phase 2 • 2010 or newer engine by Dec. 31, 2020 beginning in 2012

  9. On-road Trucks - Ag • Limited Use Extension • Pre-1996 < 15,000 miles/yr • 1996 – 2005 < 20,000 miles/yr • 2006 or newer <25,000 miles/yr • No Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) • Replace truck by December 31, 2016

  16. Permits • Current thresholds • Federal Title V = 25 tons NOx/yr • Local permit = 12.5 tons NOx/yr • Extreme thresholds • Federal Title V = 10 tons NOx/yr • Local permit = 5 tons/yr

  17. Non-attainment Fee • Failure to attain 1-hr ozone std. • Approx. $9,000 per ton annual emissions fee • Effective until attainment of 1-hr std.

  18. Forklift Regulation • Mandatory replacement of spark-ignited forklifts (propane) • 20% by January 1, 2009 • 80% by January 1, 2012
