Conferences & Calendar of Events • 802.15 has maintained a calendar of events that was deemed relevant to its membership. and posted on its website • The contents have been enhanced to include events of interest to 802.11. • The plan is to maintain one document but make it equally accessible to both memberships. • Future expansion to include 802.16 member interests will be considered. • Anyone can send suggested additions. Market Forecast • Membership requested some estimates of market size for the Standards being written. • There are numerous reports generated by market analysis companies but they are generally less useful than desired. Since the primary expertise in WLAN & WPAN technology and market trends resides within the IEEE membership it appeared that we could materially improve the situation by offering guidance to the industry. • The initial action item is to review and agree upon basic market structure and terminology definitions for 802.11 WLANs. • Additionally, initial market size projections will be collected from the attendees. • These outputs will be refined and expanded to include WPANs over the course of the next few meetings.
