  7. Outdoor Essentials - Cubs Carry this with you • First Aid Kit – Neosporin, Band-Aids, tweezers, antiseptic. • Water bottle • Flashlight • Trail food • Sunscreen • Whistle

Outdoor Essentials – Cubs(cont) • Tent or tarp, poles and stakes • Ground cloth • Sleeping bag, pillow, air mattress or pad • Lawn chairs, camp stools • Rain gear • Warm jacket, sweatshirt, sweatpants • Cup, bowl, mesh bag, knife, fork, spoon (plastic cutlery) • Insect repellent • Extra clothing • Toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, washcloth, towel, comb, brush • Scout uniform • Change of clothes • Durable shoes (2 pair) • Hat or Cap

  9. Campsite Considerations • Location – S/SE, Not Low, Not High • Size/Shape – Large enough, boulders, etc. • Protection – Wind, Trees, Riverbeds • Insects/Animals – Water & Shelter • Ground Cover – Foliage will get trampled • Privacy – Keep away from the paths • Tread Lightly – Leave no trace

Outdoor Essentials - Pack • First aid kit • Food • Cooking utensils as needed by menu, or cook kit • Stove and fuel, or firewood, charcoal and cooking grate • Matches, fire starters, charcoal chimney-stile lighters • Aluminum foil • Biodegradable soap • Sanitizing agent (liquid bleach) • Plastic scouring pads, dish mop, wash tubs

  11. Outdoor Essentials – Pack(cont) • One Hundred feet of 1/2” rope • Water containers • Trash bags • Paper towels • U.S. Flag, pack flag • Repair kit (rubber bands, safety pins, sewing gear) • Toilet paper • Shovel • Cooler • Activity gear (games, craft supplies, etc.)

  12. Summary • Get a good sleeping bag • Get a good tent • Find a good spot to camp • Cubs bring their essentials • Help the pack bring their essentials
