Macedonia • Construction of a database of patents in R. Macedonia • FUTURE ACTIVITIES are set in the Action Plan of the Program for development of R&D for 2006-2010

GOVERNMENTAL MEASURES IN THE R&D SECTOR • Programs for improvement of R&D • for encouraging and supporting national R&D projects, • for granting fellowships for post-graduate and doctoral studies both in the country and abroad, • for supporting researchers for participation at international meetings, • target research program for coordination of the R&D activities within the governmental bodies, • for development of R&D infrastructure • Program for development of R&D for 2006-2010

GOVERNMENTAL MEASURES IN THE R&D SECTOR • For enhanced technological development, measures are taken in order to: • stimulate and support the cooperation between the universities and the industry; • improve and intensify the use of the scientific research results in the industry; • promotion of the technological development of the enterprises aimed at stimulation of their competitiveness

R.Macedonia became a member in May 2002 • Macedonian scientists participate in 25 COST Actions in the fields of (civil engineering, forestry and forest products, agriculture and biotechnology, chemistry, physics, life sciences, telecommunication) • Macedonia hosted the 158th Meeting of the COST Senior Officials in February 2004 COST
