  1. While flying over Europe you see a great plume of smoke rising up from southern Italy. You decide to get a closer look.

  2. You land in the nearby city of Pompeii. You find it in ruins. Perhaps some investigation will tell you what happened here.

  3. Instructions • For each of the following exhibits… • Write the exhibit name • Then write two observations that tell you something about the civilization we’ve discovered. For example: • I see a golden bowlwhich shows they were civilizedbecause they didn’t just eat off the ground.
