  3. Direct Flash Problems • Red eye – flash off the retina, reduce by moving flash away • Flash shadows • Blown out faces • Very harsh • Dark background – can expose for ambient

  7. How Flash Exposure works • E-TTL and i-TTL (through the lens) • Can also shoot in manual • Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC)

  8. Flash Sync Speed • Shutter curtain, also have electronic curtain dslr • Not enough time to fully open while flash fired, limits maximum shutter speed when using flash • High speed sync

  9. Hotshoe Flash • More features, wireless, more powerful, swivel, AF assist • Wider coverage, flash can zoom • SB-600/900 or 430EX II/580EX II
