It may well be that the time Fathers actually spend with their child on homework and schooling could be more important for the child’s eventual success than the money brought into the household.
On a very sad note, recent research is showing that only one child in four, has a book of their own at home.
Learn to Read – Read to Learn When we learn to read, we read to learn. Children need to see us read and write – for a purpose. Reading, writing, phonics and spelling are all interlinked. Support from home is crucial for children to succeed in becoming fluent eager readers. Quality time – read books your child wants to read/hear

How to Support your Child • Predict what the book is all about. • Talk about the story and favourite parts. • Ask your child questions about the characters etc. • Retell story possibly with a story map. • Find out more about the people, places etc. in the story by looking at non-fiction.

Our Joint Roles Different reading experiences. Teach children about concepts about print. Set question before reading. eg. I wonder if, lets find out about… Talk about the characters, events ,part you /they liked best.
The Secret to Becoming a Skilled Reader and Writer Read lots and lots – books,comics,papers etc. Lots and lots of talk. Develop a love of reading which will be life long
The best writers steal from other writersTogether enjoy discussing what you liked about the descriptive language the Author used.Be wonderful “Magpies”
