Summary: A bright object roars over peaceful Maple Street, and suddenly the power goes off, the phones stop working, and cars will not start. Steve Brand and a neighbor, Charlie, plan to walk downtown for help, but young Tommy insists that aliens have landed and they don’t want anyone to leave the block. When Les Goodman’s car starts by itself, people suspect that Les is an agent of the aliens. A panic ensues as the resident look for someone to blame for all the strange events. One man, Peter Van Horn, is accidentally shot dead by Charlie. The group of neighbors turns into an angry mob.From a distance, aliens watch with satisfaction, commenting that human beings are their own worst enemies.

Event 1: Neighbors start accusing each other of strange actions that make them suspect their friends. • Event 2: Charlie brings out his shotgun, mistakes Pete Van Horn for an ET, and kills him.The neighbors panic and accuse each other. The ET's discuss how they will conquer the world by letting people destroy themselves!
