CENTENARY CERLEBRATION OF THE WORLD GUIDE MOVEMENT 2010 • The National Level launching of the year long Centenary Celebration of the “World Guide Movement” was held at Rajeev Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, Dehradoon, Uttarakhand on 10th April 2010. • Smt. Margaret Alva, H. E. Governor of Uttarakhand was the Chief Guest on the Occasion and launched the Centenary Celebrations. • Honorable National Commissioner Shri. L. M. Jain welcomed the Guest. The Ceremonial Lamp was lighted by the Chief Guest to mark the launching of the Centenary Celebration. • The Promise was renewed by the Members present on the occasion. 100 Balloons with the Logo of Centenary were released by the Guest. The participants created Human formation of figure 100 in the arena with music in the Background Dr. (Mrs.) Manik Barsaley, Chief Commissioner (Guides), India read out the last message of Lady Baden Powell.
A Special Postal cover was released by H. E. the Governor of Uttarakhand of mark the occasion of Centenary Celebrations which was presented by Shri. Sanjay Singh, Director, Postal Services. • The participants presented colorful Cultural Programmes on the occasion. The specially choreographed Dances of “Vandemataram”. A March depicting 100 Great women who created history in the past and living legends in their identical costumes was highly appreciated. The History created by them live ever green in our mind and give inspiration to us to break the barriers on the way of progress and create a better World. • In her address Smt. Margaret Alva praised the Scout/Guide Movement for creating International Understanding and Universal Peace. The bond of love created by the Scout Guide Movement is praiseworthy. She quoted from her personal experience about a songs “Kukubara sits on an old gum tree” commonly sung by the Scouts and Guides throughout the world is quite amazing. • She blessed the participants all success in their life. • National Commissioner presented Momentos to the Chief Guest. • Education Minister, Uttarakhand and President, Bharat Scouts & Guides, Uttarakhnd proposed Vote of Thanks.
