About • For starters the definition of decal is a plastic paper or cloth substrate that has a pattern or image. The pattern or image is transferred onto the final places using the aid of heat or water. Decal’s can also be know as transfers based on the term you want to use. • There are four layers in the transfer (from top to bottom) • A paper or film that makes up the top layer. The printing is done on the ‘face up’ of the stock. • An adhesive layer which is applied to the bottom of the stock. • A silicone release layer that is applied to the backing layer. • A paper or film layer which is the bottom layer of the labelstock.
Application of the ‘Decals’ • Vinyl is made so it can be used to ‘peel and stick’ . The vinyl is manufactured in large rolls that can be fed through a printer. Print the image on the transfer paper • 4.Using an ironing board or other flat surface set the heat press to iron on setting. • 5. Apply the transfer.
