Vector Magnetic Data Input into Global Models(Session 10) Session Summary • In this session, we will explore some aspects encountered when producing and using such data. Key questions include: • What uncertainties lie in the inversion and 180-degree disambiguation processes used to generate vector magnetograms? • What effects do these have on the calculation of physical quantities, such as current densities and helicities? • What should be avoided when using vector magnetogram data? • Time permitting, we will discuss some ideas related to the incorporation of solar vector magnetogram data into computational models of the solar corona.
Vector Magnetic Data Input into Global Models(Session 10) Speakers • Steve Tomczyk (HAO)“Vector Magnetic Fields from the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) Instrument” • Haosheng Lin (IfA)“Observational Test of Potential Coronal Magnetic Field Model” • Yang Liu (Stanford)“SOHO/MDI Level 1.8 Magnetograms” • K.D. Leka (CoRA)“Introduction to Using Full-Disk Vector Field Data for the SHINE Community” We invite researchers who have worked on, presently work on, or are excited about working on in the future, these and other related topics to join us and contribute to the discussion (this afternoon)!
