  2. Duties Responsible for selecting the wardrobe of the assignment hired for, i.e. photo shoots, movie sets, music videos, advertising campaign, etc. To collaborate with clients and designers To show the personality and style of clients through clothing and accessories.
  3. Education No specific education requirements 2-year Associate degree program in fashion merchandising or designing, art or visual merchandising, or related field is suggested. 4-year Bachelor degree programs in fashion will help to expand knowledge and skills required to be successful in field. Retail experience and fashion internship programs are helpful.
  4. Abilities Knowledge of past, present, and future fashion trends. Able to create different fashion visuals and outfits required for individual assignments. Able to network with designers and build a strong client base. Able to work long hours in a demanding position.
  5. Personal Qualities Creative Physically and mentally energetic Personable Determined Problem-solver Sense of fashion, color, and style
  6. Salary Most stylists are paid by a set day rate Entry level: $150 to $200 per day Experienced: $500 to $5000 per day Top-Level: $5000+ per day
  7. Locations Most opportunities for stylist careers are in New York and Los Angeles. Job sites usually include photo shoots, movie sets, music video sets, runway shows, or a client’s home.
  8. Availability Job outlook is strong Stylists will continue to be in need due to constant production of movies, television shows, magazines, and advertising. Aspiring stylists will have successful careers with use of referrals and strong networking skills.
