Egg Drop Competition Scoring • Sfinal= 75 S- any point deductions ( W + L2 + V) Where S is the Success factor with values of: • S = 100 if your egg does not break • S = 50 if the egg cracks • S = 1 if the egg leaks • W = weight of the container w/egg if it does not exceed 1 kg. • L = longest dimension in cm • V = volume in cm3 • 50 point deductions for exceeding time/weight or missing the target. • Sfinal= total points
Egg Drop Competition Scoring Practice • Sfinal= 75 S- any point deductions ( W + L2 + V) Show your work. • S – You did not break your egg so you get 75 x 100 points. • W – Your carrier weighs 500 grams. • L2 – Your carrier’s longest side is 10 centimeters so, multiply 10 x 10. • V – The volume (3 sides) of your carrier is10cm x 10cm x 8cm. • No deductions, so – 0. • Now divide and write your answer as a decimal. Sfinal - What is your final score?
Here’s a way to show your work. Sfinal= 75 x100- 0 [ 500+ (10 x 10)+ (10x 10 x 8)] Sfinal= 7,500 - 0 [ 500+ 100+ 800] Sfinal= 7,500 - 0 1400 Sfinal= Divide 7500 into 1400 and round to the nearest hundredth.
