  1. SOCIAL PROBLEMS OF ELDER PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ΑΝΝΑ ΜΑΛΕΣΚΑ OPEN-3 18/01/2013

Senility has to be treated in a right way not only from the person himself but also from the society . • This group of society should be considered as a part of the whole. • It is really important to have a “balanced deal” towards these group of people. • A propable soloution is to keep these people close to their families and part of society .

  3. A well organized social services are really important for this group of people. • Also ,it should be taken in consideration the physical, mental and social changes that occur in elderly people . One of the biggest problems that this group of people have to face in our days is the general “racist social idea” that it is created. This “idea” supports only the young ,beautiful and successful people . The ones that are still productive by leaving out the ones that are not

There are many things that make this part of society to be left out: • Not high education • Diseases • Not well organized social services • the indifference from the rest of society • How mostly people feel after getting retired ? • Loneliness(the most common) • The feeling that thy can not offer anymore to the others and even to themselves • psychological problems

  5. Some of the psycho-social problems to the elder people occurs : • 1.by realizing that they can not find new things to do like hobbies, leisure time • 2.kinetic problems • 3.most of the time they need the help of others • 4.not well-informed about social services

In all the studies that have occurred so far it has been shown that the Greek people still remains one of those who family plays the most important role. • Economic crisis is a factor of effecting this situation in the part of where social services are included and the low incomes of these people. • However,there are groups like “Helping at Home” which still do a great job. • Also, activities organized by small communities in order to make those people feel part of the group.

  7. The most important thing is not to neglect this part of our community. • To make them feel that there are still capable in doing things • To make them feel that their opinions still value
