International situation on safety regulations EU China Japan Southkorea USA • 7 regulations enforced • Adopted safety requirements on battery safety • Assessing current situation on charging • 22 regulations enforced, in total 100 draft are announced • Extend safety requirements on battery safety • Evaluate whole special requirements on PHEV • 3 regulations enforced • In the process to accept ECE-Regulations • 4 regulations enforced • Battery safety are under special consideration • 2 regulations (FMVSS) enforced • Studies on whole vehicle and battery safety are ongoing

  3. OICA position for GTR on EVS • Deviating requirements in different countries • Higher EV market penetration are announced / will be expected • 2015: China 500.000 • 2020: EU 5% market share, China 5 Mio., USA 10% market share • International harmonized framework for safety requirements is needed • GTR needs to be permanently monitored to technical progress • Two step approach is necessary: • Identifying of technical requirements which are • safety related (not to harm human body) • reliable, technology neutral and not design-restrictive • performance orientated with pass/fail criteria • ready to be adopted by end of 2014 • Adapting GTR to technical progress based upon study results
