3. VISION STATEMENT To promote college readiness and ensure college matriculation into college courses in a supportive environment.

4. Definition of Dual-Enrollment • Students enrolled in the DEP are enrolled as full-time college students (12 units +) as “Special High School Student” California’s Ed Code sections 48800-48802 • Enrolled in participating high school Independent Study Program (ISP) on a part-time basis. • Full-time on college campus and one day at the participating high school

PROGRAM GOALS • Increase college-going rate for Hispanic students in the community • Provide ACCESS to additional career and technical education opportunities to high school students • Provide access to higher education opportunities for underrepresented, low income high school students. • Expand partnership with two local high school districts • Secure additional funding for the Tech Prep Program • Build upon and expand a successful Tech Prep Program

6. Characteristics of Program • Utilized Tech Prep Steering Committee for program direction • High school district willing to accept graduation requirements (reverse articulation) – MOU • Open to public and private high school students • Enroll in college courses (taught college instructors)

Enroll into courses- priority registration vs. non priority registration Conform to college code of behavior/discipline Provide college transcript to high schools Issue AA/AS, certificate or prepare students for transfer. Selection Criteria • Intended for under achieving, low motivational high school student. • Student meets college assessment requirements for English and reading. • Student must identify educational goal- AA/AS, certificate or transfer • Student individual education plan based on student goals (career path) • Meet DEP application requirements.

Student Recruitment Outreach and Recruitment • Independent Study Programs: Whittier Union High School District, El Rancho and private home schools • Meetings with district administrators and counselors • Information Sessions: Requirements/Benefits • Application process: application, assessment tests, parent and student interviews
