This was boring. Sorry. But here is Rob,Adam,Keith,John(out of the picture getting something for his John Deer rocket) and I working hard on the bridges. This is where Keith showed us his musical ability to make up songs. About Babies.
The Rockets were the best part of this intersession. I just wish I could have found mine. It was lost on the second day.
Here is the water balloon activity. John can’t hold a straight line. Adam can’t hold the balloon in the sack thing, Keith can’t launch them right, Rob made eggplant shaped balloons, and I wonder if balloons is spelled right.
People used the bleachers to try and go farther. I don’t think I worked because our balloons went as far as theirs.
This morning another group decided to bomb our position. We retaliated and had a casualty. Rob ran and slipped in the mud. He was covered in it. That was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen him do.
Git-R-Done John John is starting the space program to put the first Tractor on the Moon.
My Acme rocket with OORAH!!! Streamer. Which deployed in the air after hitting the shed. It was cold that day.
Commence Fire!! Keith’s pockets are full of water balloons.
Catapult I think the catapult was the most challenging project because it took forever to realize that we needed a stop. Also we had so many problems with the wood splitting, and the drills not working. But it all turned out fine and we had one good throw.
Rob is running away in fear(he thought it was going to snap),
But we rebuilt it into a trebuchet. Which also broke.
Summary In this intersession we built rockets, catapults, mousetrap cars, and bridges. We made small individual catapults and then a big group one. We named the bigger one Juggernaut. We were able to have one good launch on it. That launch killed itself. It snapped our stop off and destroyed our posts. The trebuchet was a little less challenging. We were able to get it done in about the same amount of time but we did not run into some of the problems that we did with the catapult. Such as the actual launching. Since the Trebuchet uses a seesaw counterweight system there was no strain on the posts. But when trying to use a rope to launch the projectile we snapped the pvc pipe. Then we made paper airplanes. We cut outlines out and pasted them to a cardstock like folder then cut them out again. The trip to the Air Force Museum was great. I loved seeing all the old and new aircraft. You know these aircraft are big but you don’t realize how big till your standing under the wing. The mousetrap car was interesting. We used a string attached to a mousetrap to accelerate a car(wood block with wheels). IT didn’t work real well because the cd wheels had no traction. I didn’t really like the bridge building. It took forever and drawing out the lines was so boring. This was a great choice of intersession and if I could take it again I would.
