Today was Tucker’s first day at a new school. He was very excited and a little nervous.
Tucker’s mom, Ms. Shell, walked Tucker to the school. They met the teacher at the door. “Hi, Tucker! I am Miss Hoot, your teacher. Please say goodbye to your mom and come on in!”
So, Tucker gave his mother a kiss and a hug and said goodbye. See you soon. Good Bye.
When Tucker entered the classroom, he could hardly believe what he saw. There were toys, tables, paper, blocks, and many other fun things to play with!
Tucker saw the blocks across the room. He ran to the blocks. On his way, he knocked Freda frog to the floor and bumped the easel. Paint splattered everywhere.
When he reached the block area, he saw Rocky Raccoon making a tower with the blocks. “Hi, I’m Rocky!” “Hi, Rocky, my name is Tucker. This is my first day at school.”
Rocky said, “I thought so. There are a few rules you need to know. The first one is be safe. We use our walking feet inside!” BE SAFE!
“What is rule number two?” asked Tucker. “I will tell you later,” said Rocky. “Let’s go see if Freda is okay.”
Freda was crying. Rocky asked Freda if she was okay and gave her a hug. Tucker did the same. He asked Freda if she was okay and he gave her a hug. Are you okay?
Rocky said, “You have just learned cool rule number two, be kind.” Tucker explained that he was so excited he didn’t stop and think – he just ran. BE KIND!
Just then, Miss Hoot rang a bell and said, “Three more minutes to play, then we need to be ready for circle.” Three minutes passed and the bell rang again. “Children, it is time to put away our toys and come to circle.”
Rocky and Tucker were working together to make a road with the blocks. When it was time to clean up, Tucker picked up a toy car and threw it into the bin. He picked up a second one and threw it even harder into the bin.
Rocky said, “Tucker, rule number three is be careful with our things. Here, let me show you.” Rocky picked up a toy car, walked over to the bin, and put the car inside the bin. BE CAREFUL WITH OUR THINGS!
Tucker said, “I get it! If I throw the toys, they could break or someone could get hurt.” “You have just learned rule number three,” said Rocky.
“Circle time!”Miss Hoot led the class to circle time where they sang the Cool Rule Song. Be Safe, Be KindBe Careful with Our Things,Be Safe, Be KindBe Careful with Our Things,Whenever we’re at school,We follow these 3 rules.Be Safe, Be KindBe Careful with Our Things,Use gentle hands, take turns And always share.Kind words and helping others Shows you care.If we follow these 3 rulesOur classroom will be cool.Be Safe, Be Kindto all your friends at school.
Ms. Shell picked up Tucker from school. On the way home, Ms. Shell asked, “What did you learn at school today?” Tucker said, “Be safe, be kind, and be careful with our things.” Be SAFE, be KIND, and be CAREFUL with our things!
