  3. St Valentine's Day. • When is Valentine’s Day? • It is celebrated on the 14th February by those who believe in love and friendship. • Who celebrates Valentine’s Day? • Boys and girls, husbands and wives, and friends send nice cards to each other with warm greetings on the day.

  4. 2 • Why do we celebrate Valentine’s Day? • An Italian monk named Valentine helped young people to marry thereby breaking the law. • What happened to Valentine as a result of this?

  5. Traditions • In some countries, a young woman may receive a gift of clothing from a young man. If she keeps the gift, it means she will marry him. • If you cut an apple in half and count how many seeds are inside, you will know how many children you will have. • In Wales wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February14. However, some people use the occasion to present lavish gifts, such as jewelry.

  18. STEPS STEP 1: Cut a fat heart from a piece of paper. STEP 2: Write a Valentine’s message and decorate with markers. STEP 3: Lay the heart with the message side up. Fold in sides as shown. STEP 4: Fold the top down just above the middle. STEP 5: Fold the point up. STEP 6: Turn envelope so flap is at the top, and seal with scotch tape.
