Final Cut • Throughout the process of making our thriller we used Final Cut for the bulk of the work. This was essential as it allowed us to edit together our footage smoothly and add various effects and the music score. There were some drawbacks with the program such as it being sometimes difficult to position the clips in the right place, but overall the program worked well.
Effects in Final Cut • One particularly useful tool in final cut was the filters and effects. We used one effect in particular, a distortion/glow effect which was extremely effective for the flashbacks in our clip. This was an easy tool to use and was highly effective at changing the mood or effect of the shots.
Garage Band • Another useful program was Garage Band. This program allowed us to compose and arrange the music score for our clip. At first we found the options available to be a little limited, the amount of music available is quite specific. Initially the music score we created didn’t really fit with the mood of our clip, and after the feedback from the other groups confirmed this we were able to change it with a minimum of fuss. However, the music score we changed to wasn’t one that was available of Garage Band, it was of the internet.
