Empire magazine is more of an info • The target audience for Empire magazine is males and females aged 18-30 in working or middle class. Most people would buy Empire magazine to read about latest films and things happening in the film industry.
Jobs in the Media Supplement • I am going to produce an 8 page booklet on jobs in the media. My booklet will contain 6 articles explaining what each job is, skills and knowledge needed, daily activities, work hours and the wage. • I will use a very basic colour scheme as Empire also is quite basic. • I am going to focus on mostly white and red colours as that is also similar to the original magazine.
Summary of jobs • Publisher - Publishers can work in book publishing, magazine or newspaper publishing. They manage the books or magazines produced by their company, it could be online or printed word. Publishers think of new ideas for their publications, help develop current publications or help improve a publication. • Proofreader - Proofreaders are responsible for checking over written work on the proofs of a magazine, book, newspaper or webpage. They make sure that there are no spelling errors or letters in the wrong order, page numbers go in the right order, everything is in the right place. • Runner - Runner's mainly work in the TV and film industry, their main role is to provide food and drink for the cast and crew, cleaning up sets, general admin work e.g. photocopying and greeting important guests. • Newspaper journalist – Newspaper journalists write articles for local or national newspapers. The articles are mainly on recent news events, sports, music, art, fashion, etc. They also have to research information. • Lighting director - Lighting directors are in charge of all the lights through out the production. They plan where to place the lights and when to turn them on. Safety procedures are also vital in this job as lights can't fall down or break mid-production. • Radio presenter - Radio presenters are responsible for presenting on radio and engaging the audience. They have to set the appropriate tone of the radio channel. They also can control the music the station plays.
Biography • Peter Jackson • I chose Peter Jackson because most of the films he has directed have been extremely popular. The target audience for Empire Magazine is very similar to the target audience of these films. Most have these films have won or have been nominated for various awards. • Peter Jackson will be interesting to write about because of the films he has directed.
