Quality Assurance Agency: Institutional Review • QAA review of all educational provision (including PGR) • Our QAA self evaluation document due 19 Dec 2012 • Also a USSU student written submission • Panel members visit Sussex in Feb 2013 to agree programme for the visit and request additional info • Review takes place week of 18 March 2013. • We have good story to tell on QAA key theme for 2012/13 student involvement in quality assurance and enhancement - (periodic review of curriculum 2011) • Outcomes more complex than QAA Audit 2008 Open Staff Forum Nov 2012
Quality Assurance Agency: Institutional Review Outcomes • Main Outcome: academic standards are met or are not met • In addition 3 areas are subject to a graded judgement: • Quality of student learning opportunities • Enhancement of student learning opportunities • The quality of public information about learning opportunities (a new area) • Graded judgements include: commended; meets expectations; requires improvement to meet; does not meet UK expectations • Finally narrative relating to theme ‘student involvement in quality assurance and enhancement’ Open Staff Forum Nov 2012

Teaching and Learning Enhancement • Invested £1.2m in IT developments last year with positive results • T&L enhancement project with similar funding this year. • Follow up the Periodic Reviews and the feedback from the National Student Survey 2012. • New investments which deliver real improvements in the student experience include: • E-submission and feedback for 2013/14 • Better online signposting of information and advice • Enhanced PC provision for PG research students • Improved lecture recording across all lecture theatres Open Staff Forum Nov 2012
